Alert: Important NR151 Update

We are still waiting on the actual language of the proposed draft of NR151 that was expected to be released early this week. 

But, we know the proposed "nitrogen restricted areas" cover a lot of land throughout the state and will have a huge impact to the dairy industry. Both manure application and commercial fertilizer application will be prohibited after August 31st in these areas unless certain criteria can be met. We have seen targeted area maps and want you to be aware of the new interactive map (see below) that was launched by the DNR this week. (Note: Northeast Wisconsin is still being updated with the recent helicopter data - we expect that map to change significantly.)

We are very concerned about this rule and the impact it could have on your farms. We will need your input as the details of this rule unfold, to help us fight this battle in the legislature. When the actual language is released, we will host a more comprehensive update and discussion webinar - be watching for a zoom invite.
